 Use Consequences calmly

Actions speak louder than words- Let the consequence do the teaching, not your words or anger.

Your goal in training children to cooperate and be part of a team is for them to learn to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

You also want them to learn to do something because you have asked them to.

Don’t get in the habit of over talking or explaining what you want done more than once.  Children need their parent to be confident and calm.

Keep it simple - uncomplicated and respectful.

Make sure you have their attention. Explain once what the family rule is in a few words, using a calm delivery and stating a consequence.

Let the consequence do the teaching, not your words or anger.

If they disobey just calmly remove them from the situation, to their bedroom, or activated the consequence without using anger or a lecture.

Inspire your children to behave by using words that invite co-operation and let them know you believe in them.
