Share an expedition with your children these holidays.

In his book “Fatherless America: confronting our most urgent social problem.”
David Blackenhorn asserts that: the most urgent domestic challenge facing the USA is the recreation of fatherhood as a vital social role for men.

Studies show that between World War 1 and World War 11, fathers spent an average of four hours per week with their children. After World War 11, fathers spent an average of two hours with their children by 1990 the time had dropped dramatically to 17 minutes!

Because many fathers are forced to work longer hours to provide for their families the amount of contact time with our children is unavoidably diminished from previous generations.

Therefore we need to make time for our families. And holidays are a great time to do this..

So plan an excursion with your children.
Let them plan it with you.
Even a train trip, many modern kids have never travelled on a train, even one just across town.
Let them plan where to stop for lunch.

When planning the excursion with your family the ideas can be many:
Hiring an unusual vehicle.
•    A tramp in the forest.
•    A boat trip.
•    Hiring trial bikes.
•    And many more.

While researching my book, “Fathers Who Dare Win” I came to the conclusion that when dad has taken time out to plan a special excursion, his children will live on those memories.

These memories will be stored in their minds like a “museum of memories” that they will draw on for future generations.
