Encourage your children to take smart risks:

31-May-2018

Some children are very fearful about taking risks. Their biggest fear may be to make a mistake or be growled at.

Encourage your children to try some risks; make new friends, try a new food, practice a new skill, answer a question in class and get comfortable with giving it a go.

Let them know that it is okay to make mistakes while you are learning.

Mistakes are okay – they can be fixed.
It will give them the confidence to step out of their comfort zone.

Children need to know:
You only succeed in life if you take ‘smart’ risks.

Dr Ben Carson Neurosurgeon at John Hopkins University new book ‘Take the risk’, says you ask yourself 4 questions.
1. What is the best thing that will happen if I take the risk?
2. What is the worst thing that will happen if I take the risk?
3. What is the best thing that will happen if I don’t take the risk?
4. What is the worst thing that can happen if I don’t take the risk?

Then make your decision.
